Google is a site that many of us visit on the daily basis, even multiple times a day. Most of the time we are presented with the welcoming, but quickly bore inducing Google logo. There are a few times where we are entertained with a special Google logo, however, that doesn’t happen every day. You have the capability to change the background, and we will show you how today.
Find the Button
One reason that this feature isn’t always shown is because not everyone is able to find the right homepage that enables you to use this. For example, when some logged in individuals go to Google’s homepage, they are taken to the encrypted site. This is also known as Google Beta SSL. If you are on this page and want to enable background customization, you’ll have to click “Go to classic Google”, then click “Change background image” at the bottom right.
The Different Photo Options
When you get to the section to change the background image, you are given the ability to choose from a multitude of images. The first choice is the public gallery. In this section, you can check out backgrounds made by other Google users. If you want to add some personalization, you can also add your very own background from your computer. You can also add a background from Picasa or you can stay without a background.
There are a couple of drawbacks to having a customized background. For slow connections, they usually take longer to load the whole page. In addition, you can’t take advantage of it in Google’s secure SSL encrypted search. However, these drawbacks are minimal.
In the end, past all of the drawbacks, having a custom background offers the best way of customization. The background that you choose for you Google homepage is associated with your Google account that means that where ever you login, you’ll be able to enjoy it.
